You could argue that yen press translations sound nicer but the fact is they do more then just fix the grammar. Im in the process of learning japanese and can tell you first hand that the fan translations more accurate then what Yen press releases. I'm curious on whether I should purchase this or not, because Yen Press products definitely aren't cheap and I'd rather do some research first. So is it a cultural change problem, grammatical errors, or just plain wrong translations of certain things? So I'm assuming it's just an issue with whichever translator is heading the project.īut what exactly is wrong with its translation? Whenever people bring up the novel nobody really ever goes into specifics, just that it's bad. Although I am aware that vols 1-6 are translated online through illegal methods, but as far as I'm aware the translation has for the most part been stopped, Yen Press will eventually catch up to the current releases and I'd want to maintain consistency in translations.īut on almost every site I go to people are saying how bad the NGNL translation is, but apparently other Yen Press novels aren't like this. I've been thinking about giving this novel a spin, but as it has been licensed the only way to read it is through the official release, which is something I am fine with doing.
